Week of September 25-29
This is a full week of school! Here are a few items of news:
  1. We have been on chrome books at least every other day. We work on Prodigy and RAZ Kids. Students are welcome to bring their headphones/ earbuds.
  2. I have been having very little reading logs turned in. To try to get more reading turned in, I have found a really cool website called "Whoo's Reading?" https://www.whooosreading.org
  3. I am offering EXTRA CREDIT to students who complete a journal activity by Friday the 29th.
  4. This Friday the 29th is the OPA Carnival from 4-7. There will be food and games!
Here is how reading logs will be done:
  1. I will send log in information for Whoo's Reading.
  2. Each night, log in and have your student complete a journal activity
  3. Students may complete a quiz on the book that they are reading AFTER they complete the book.
  4. This will be part of their reading comprehension grade as the website gives me a grade on their performance.
  5. I wil still give a hard copy reading log, but remember that at least 5 days need to be filled in and at least 5 complete sentences (one per day).
  6. I would really love to switch completely over to Whoo's Reading, but I know that internet access is limited.

News for September 11-15, 2017

I have sent home homework packets for this week! Please initial each day as your child completes the items.

Reading logs went home today. Students need to read 20 minutes a night, and fill out the reading log. Please initial each entry of the reading log. Let's see how many minutes our class reads this week!

Students now have a planner. Each day they will bring the planner home and to school. Please initial each day in the planner when it comes home. This is a communication tool between home and school. The planners also allows the students to take responsibility of what homework they have to complete.

I have attached a list of several strategies for learning their spelling words. Please have them study each evening. Spelling tests are always on Friday, unless I post differently. They are tested on 10 words.
